I am a Storyteller.

Hi, I'm Stephanie, an event and portrait photographer working in Iowa City. I've been shooting for the past 20 years in a variety of capacities: hobbyist, student, graduate student, artist, educator, and as a commercial staff photographer. Throughout the various roles, I have always held a soft-spot for keepsake personal portraits--family shoots, weddings, engagements, births, graduations. I love the legacy of photographs--the romance of the cherished photo that holds the promise of the past, present and future in one emotive frame.

Give me a vast expansive horizon, tall wispy grass and beautiful light and I'm in my happy place. I adore shallow focus, dramatic light, playful shadows and an unexpected gesture or glance that elevates a frame and tips an image into a visual poem.
